thanks to Candice for the match captures
Backstage, Jericho and Christian hyped up each other for their match. Jericho did his own Mr. Perfect-esque gum spit-n-slap as Christain mocked Michaels, the “Sexy Boy” by calling himself a sexy beast.
Shawn Michaels & Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho & Christian
HBK wasn’t in his normal ring gear, as he had explained to Hardy earlier that his bags were lost. Early in the match, Christian and Jericho handcuffed Michaels to a turnbuckle. The match was a No-DQ match so it was legal. Jericho and Christian beat down Hardy for a bit and then Jericho taunted Michaels with the key while Christian took care of Hardy. Jericho got a bit too close and got nailed with a superkick from Michaels. Jericho dropped the key and Michales was able to get it and free himself. He got in the ring and cleaned house. Jericho snuck back in the ring with a chair, only to receive another superkick, this time with the chair in front of his face. Hardy scaled to the top and executed the Swanton Bomb for the win.
After the break, Jericho was backstage, throwing things around, livid that Hardy had won a match.

With Summerslam being this Sunday, I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at Christian’s very first Summerslam, back in 1999.
Edge and Christian, along with The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw), The New Brood (Matt and Jeff Hardy) with Gangrel, The Holly Cousins (Hardcore and Crash), Droz and Prince Albert and Mideon and Viscera, took part in a tag team turmoil match, in which the winners would go on to get a shot at the tag team titles the next night on Raw.
Edge and Christian went the distance, being the first tag team out. They defeated the teams of Matt and Jeff Hardy, Mideon and Viscera and Droz and Prince Albert. Unfortunately, they were no match for The Acolytes and was taken out after Bradshaw hit the clothesline from hell and pinned Christian for the three count.

Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
Next up is the ladder match between Chris Jericho and Christian as both men make their way to the ring. The title is hanging over the middle of the ring. Jericho immediately takes the advantage with some stiff chops too Christian, who then returns a few right hands. Christian then gets Jericho the mat where he uses the ropes to choke him. Jericho gets control again and rolls Christian to the outside, but he is tossed over the barricade. Christian grabs a ladder and so does Jericho.
Both men trying to use them to their advantage. Jericho runs at Christian with one of them, who then ducks and the ladder hits the ring post. Christian hits a running enziguri on the outside and takes Jericho down, where he gets a ladder and brings it into the ring. Christian sets up the ladder in the ring and is almost to the belt when Jericho is able to grab his feet. Christian kicks him down and then takes another ladder and sets it up in the corner. He picks Jericho up and begins to toss him into the ladder, but Jericho reverses and Christian is laid out. Jericho then drops the ladder on Christian. Christian gets a foot up this time and does the same exact thing to Jericho, sending him into the corner face first into the ladder.

Christian vs. Drew McIntyre
Christian got the early advantage and went for a early rollup, but Drew blocked it and stomped Christian. Christian tossed Drew out and missed a baseball slide. He caught his balance and dropkicked Drew into the ring. Drew crawled under the ring and grabbed Christian’s arm and pulled it into the steel of the ring. Drew applied a keylock submission to Christian and clotheslined Christian outside of the ring.
The show returned with Christian almost getting counted out. Drew hit a shoulderbreaker on Christian during the commercial break and he continued to work on Christian’s arm. The Highlight Reel with special guest Edge
The former Intercontinental Champion made his presence felt during the Highlight Reel. After Edge told Chris Jericho that he could not compete at Unforgiven due to a sever groin injury suffered over the weekend, Christian took to the ring and Pearl Harbored Y2J. Not anticipating the attack, Jericho didn’t stand a chance, as Christian tore the Highlight Reel host apart. Christian is back!

Steel Cage Match
Chris Jericho vs. Christian (w/ Trish & Tyson Tomko)
It was a match with so much meaning to both competitors that Christian called it “Game 7″ and it lived up to its hype in every way. The most bitter of enemies engaged in the ultimate battle within the confines of a 15-foot high steel cage that has been known to cause serious injury, the two men gave it everything they had, and then some. With the odds even for the first time since Trish Stratus and Tyson Tomko began entering ringside with Christian, Chris Jericho proved to be too much for his former best friend, defeating Christian with the Walls of Jericho.
Winner: Chris Jericho
